Juveniles

 Measurements -130x150cm

This piece combines the memories of two experiences…
Firstly there’s this same spot I keep returning to that will forever be with me…
I was taken on a private safari at dusk to see the wader birds at the Banni Grasslands nature reserve in Kutch, northern Gujarat.
The air shrieked with the sounds of the Cranes coming to the rest by the lake after a day of grazing on the land.
When they had all came in to land there was total stillness and silence.
With the arrival of the silence we were able to focus on the juvenile birds in the lake which were surrounded by thick pink light. It was truly magical.
My second memory of juvenile flamingoes was from my recent visit to the Ria Formosa National park in Portugal.
The shallow waters were full of young flamingos feeding on fish.. and this was where I was able to take the photos that informed this piece.

Acrylic paint, powder pigments and pastels.
